Wrap-Up of Homeschooling at the End of the Year (4th & 2nd Grades)

We are now in mid-May and the end of Hailey’s fourth grade year is approaching. Kaitlyn will be entering her second grade year. It took me a moment to write that, because we have officially reached the stage where we are so immersed in homeschooling that I no longer think of grades. I no longer Google “what my xyz grader needs to know”, as I used to do so frequently in our first years. It feels great to finally be at a place where we are comfortable with our direction.

The natural slowing down has been evident over the last few days. We have a park meetup planned and our swim team is back in full swing. The weather is so beautiful that everyone wants to be outdoors now that pollen has cleared and we’re not hacking any more.

I have already started planning for the next school year. I will see how summer goes. I think we’ll start again mid-July, when we’re all done with the heat and humidity. We are now looking forward to a relaxed summer pace, which will include a daily schedule of reading, math, and piano. Before I move forward with the planning, I wanted take a look at this homeschool year 2021/2022.
