The Birth Story of Kaitlyn Elizabeth

This post is a mess. I have no idea where to begin. How can you type the feelings you experience when you welcome a new child into the world if you’re sitting down? Well, you can’t. Instead, I will share the events of the day and try to capture the absolute bliss I felt when I held my daughter for the first time. You know it’s going to be a long one!

Where did we leave off last time? The contractions started when I hooked up my pitocin.

The contractions remained steady, and I felt good. The doctor said he would return in a couple of hours to check if her contractions were working. David and I chatted in the room and told mom and Dad to bring Hailey.

Her eyes opened wide when she saw me. I was afraid that the sight of her on a large ball with tubes attached might scare her. She asked me, ‘Mommy what are you doing?

After some coaxing, and explaining that her sister was about to emerge from my tummy she became excited. I also managed to get some cuddles.
