Hailey is a voracious reader. Hailey loves to read. While Kaitlyn enjoys listening to audiobooks, Hailey likes to get into bed early so that she can have time to read before sleeping. She has chosen a genre she enjoys: fantasy, fairytales and anything with adventure and magic. Add a bit of history to the mix!
I asked her for a list of the books and series she loves so that I could share it with other children her age who might be interested in book recommendations. She was thrilled to be given the chance and these are her top picks.
A Tale of Magic By Chris Colfer
Hailey loves this spin-off of The Land of Stories (another series that we highly recommend as we have listened to it together… two times). It is full of twists, turns and adventures. She likes how the series ties in fairytales, and she thinks “they’re well-written.”
Brystal Evergreen discovers that she is a magical fairy when she stumbles upon a secret library section. In the oppressive Southern Kingdom where women are prohibited from reading, and magic is illegal, Brystal is quickly convicted for her crimes and sent off to the Bootstrap Correctional Facility.
Brystal is enrolled at an academy of magic with the help from the mysterious Madame Weatherberry! Adventures come at a cost, and Madame Weatherberry, who was called away by an important problem, does not return.
Can Brystal, her friends, and their teachers stop a sinister plan that threatens the fate of magic and the world?
Percy Jackson By Rick Riordan
Hailey loves that the characters are the children of Greek gods. She has only read one book but she is already tearing through the rest. She said that the characters have to use their powers in order to battle monsters, which makes the stories more exciting.
Join the son of Poseidon, the sea-god, and his demigod buddies as they embark on a series quests where they will face monsters, gods and conniving characters from Greek mythology. Are they able to save the Olympians against an ancient foe?
