Kaitlyn turned 1 on May 16 and here is what she has been up to (besides just looking super cute in her little Lilly P – thank you kind, fashionable friends). Kaitlyn celebrated her 1st birthday in May. Here is what she has been up to. (Besides looking adorable in her Lilly P, thank you for your kind and fashionable friends …)
EAT
Kaitlyn, as I said before, is small and may get distracted when eating. I am working hard to ensure that we eat together at most meals. She eats much better when we all eat together. She eats three meals and a snack every day if I can make her sit still. She likes anything with hummus, marinara or applesauce. She loves bread with butter and frozen peas. She also enjoys sweet potatoes, peanutbutter, yogurt, corn or oatmeal.
She did a pretty good job with the spoon I gave her! I was stunned. She didn’t get it all, but she got about 75%. She drinks mostly water, and even though I gave her whole milk she only took a few sips. She has tried juice, but she doesn’t seem to be a fan of things that are too sweet. (I even gave her a shake and after two sips, she was done with it.. ???)
She nurses on demand, 3-4 times per day. I have nursed as many as 6 times a day, and as few as 3. It’s not clear how long we will continue, but for the moment it is working. My favorite sessions are the morning ones, when she snuggles with bunny while eating. I usually get a 30-minute snuggle session, which I enjoy.
SLEEP
Sweet girl still loves her bunny!
She has a sleep schedule. But it’s not true. She usually falls asleep very quickly after going to bed every night at 7:00pm. She sleeps until 6:30 or even 7:15 on 9 of 10 nights. There are naps all over. She will often nap for 1.5-2 hours around 10:30, but she won’t sleep again no matter how tired. Sometimes I can get her to nap twice, but that’s rare. Right now, I try to keep her as late as I can before she takes her one nap.
She sleeps in a crib with the white noise set to a very low level. She will occasionally wake in the middle of the night. I nurse her, and she falls back to sleep. It’s really sweet.
