This oatmeal smoothie is packed with all the health benefits of oatmeal, but in a tasty smoothie that’s easy to consume and clean up. It’s perfect for children!
The busy mom’s oat bowl is a great title. I was trying to think of something more snazzy, but it just seemed right. I suppose I could have named it a banana honey oats smoothie but I was worried that no one would be interested. Who really needs yet another smoothie recipe?
Wrong. This is what you need.
You do, if you’re as rushed to get the kids up in the morning as I am but you still want them to have some good food before the day begins.
This smoothie is for you. This smoothie is not super fancy but it is well-rounded, full of nutrients, and has staying power. The kids also love it.
Kaitlyn couldn’t wait to see me blend the ingredients.
She didn’t completely wait, and she took a shower the next morning in an attempt to remove honey and chia seed from her hair.
This mishap has made me realize that I need this smoothie.
My kids are very busy in the mornings and eat about one bite per 3-4 minutes. This means that having 40 minutes or so to eat just a bowl of oatmeal can be rare. Hailey is a good spooner at age four and a quarter, but Kaitlyn could improve.
When she eats a bowl of oatmeal, a quarter ends up on her pajamas and another quarter on the ground. She then takes a few bites before using the remainder as a fancy mask for her hair.
