How about “Experience Report: A Day at Dollywood’s Splash Country”?

We received a large shipment of Adirondack chair we ordered for our cabins last week. David had to choose a date to take them to the Tennessee Mountains, but we saw a few days gap in the schedule at the cabin and decided to go on a late summer hoorah that included a trip to Dollywood’s Splash Country.

After Kaitlyn’s TKD Tournament, we drove west and within three hours we had Mellow Mushroom Pizza on our back deck at Bearolina, overlooking the most beautiful mountain ranges.

We knew that there were many fun activities to do, but we had never taken our children to a waterpark. When we learned that Dollywood’s Splash County is still open Saturdays and Sundays until mid-September, we decided to bring them.

Last time we visited Dollywood was in the fall during their Harvest Festival. It was a wonderful experience. I love Dollywood because of its cleanliness, relaxed atmosphere, and downhome feeling. Splash Country was just as clean, which I found to be a pleasant surprise. The day was laid-back and fun.

Arriving just before the opening at 10:00 am, we found a parking lot that was mostly empty. We walked right through the entrance and placed our towels and water on four chairs under the shade, next to the pool. They had never been in a wavepool before, but they love to surf the ocean. So they were immediately excited.

I was able to convince them to go to River Rush because our friends had recommended it, and the lines tend to grow longer the more the day progresses. The four-person tube was ready in less than five minutes. K was very nervous, and I think it was too much for her to start on. But it was an amazing ride with ups anddowns just like on a rollercoaster.

K was the only one who did not laugh. Later, she would say that it was fun (kids man …),) but at the moment, the adrenaline had her shaken. We took our time to get on the other rides.
