How about “Continuing Our Family Sailing Adventure in the Caribbean: Part 2”?

Getting caught up? See our BVI sailing trip part 1. We left off after I crashed my scooter on Anegada into a prickly bushes. From this point on, I wanted to be a bit more cautious with our journey.

Day 7: Sandy Spit to Cooper Island

After breakfast, we headed to Cooper Island Beach Club and grabbed a BoatyBall Reservation when it became available. On our way out we were part of a parade of boats, I believe it was 7. We weren’t alone in wanting to start the day early. We sailed for a few hours until we reached our destination, The Sandy Spit.

It’s funny to call a beautiful little place the Sandy Spit. The island is a small one with only a few palm trees. The island is bordered by a rocky base on one side and soft, white sand on the other. It’s perfect for splurging in. Many people swim or kayak, but we anchored our boat and used the dinghy. After a few minutes of jumping waves, we went back to the boat to grab our snorkeling equipment. We spent a little time swimming around admiring the conchs that were scattered along the otherwise clear, sand bottom. It was amazing!

We motored to Cooper Island in the late afternoon. After mooring our boat, we went in to explore the island before our dinner. We looked at the view, browsed the boutique and drank rums from their famous bar. We were given a private tour by the brewmaster of their microbrewery, and then we headed to our table.

The views were stunning and the food was delicious. David and I shared a flight of the on-site beer, while the girls played the 3d puzzles scattered around the tables. The food was delicious. David ate snapper and I ate ceviche. After dinner, we called it quits. We were all tired after a day of sun.
