Yesterday was a great day. It’s the fall weather, I think. It was so cold that I had to put on my Costco jacket to go for a morning walk with Finley. I also got to talk to my mother while I walked.
We did the normal routine: breakfast, school, (we learned about fruits farming and tasted them blindfolded–because they’re fruits, you know :)). Kaitlyn, who is usually Hailey’s assistant in the kitchen, asked Kaitlyn if she would be the chef for the day. They had to do math and piano as well as their daily chore. Is it possible to bake cookies in my home? Please, yes.
I showed her a recipe that I use often, a variation on a William Sonoma recipe for pecan chocolate chips. She was very proud of herself for taking the lead and making a video. She decided to make scary cookies out of monster eye that she found in my baking basket. She did an amazing job; I was very impressed.
Do you know that you can use a mason jar upside down (or i use a cookie cutter) to swirl the cookies inside it when they come out of oven? I find it the most cool, but Kaitlyn says she prefers some that are more “wonky”, and monster-like, rather than round. Oops. If you’re looking for a quick and easy chocolate chip recipe to use, this is our favorite.
