How about “Organizing Your Pantry with Canned Goods”?

We did a Pantry refresh last year and I’m not sure what took so long. We love the results. The change from wire shelving to solid wooden and the thoughtful organization and storage of products in a functional way has made a big impact. I still smile when I open the pantry. My pantry can system was one of the most significant upgrades, as I believe a well-stocked pantry is a pantry with a good supply of cartons and cans.

Cans of goods are pantry staples and can be used in so many different ways. Stocking up on canned goods can make it easy to prepare quick meals. They come in different sizes, and they will quickly fill up your pantry. It will save you money and space (since you can easily see what you have) and reduce food waste. You’ll also get the bonus of a visually appealing pantry! To all of these reasons, I am sharing some ideas on how you can organize canned goods. Here are some general storage ideas:

  • Sort your canned goods according to their expiration dates. Make sure that the first expiring cans are the closest to the front, so they can be easily grabbed. Place the new can at the back of your pantry.
  • Make sure you make the items that you use most easily accessible. You may use black beans and diced tomato more than once a week. Make sure they are easy to reach.
  • Declutter. You’ve been holding onto that can of pumpkin you know you will never open. It’s time to donate it so you can make room for the canned goods that you actually use.
  • Categorize. It’s nice that so many products come in cans. You can organize them by category. Soups, vegetables, beans, sauces, etc.
