The other day, my kids told me that the stockings are one of their favourite parts of Christmas morning. I felt the same as a child because who doesn’t like a giant grab bag of surprises? Star, our elf sent me some ideas that I thought would be good to share with Santa. It’s not that I have any specific requests to make, but if anyone else is having trouble with their elf, these ideas might be helpful!
Santa also likes to slip mandarins oranges in the stockings of girls, which is always funny. We have big stockings, so it’s probably because they are large. I don’t fault him. Don’t forget, though, to remind him that fruits and snacks are also a great way to fill up his elf!
- Piggy Paint Non-Toxic Polish- These brightly colored, scented paints are the perfect gift for girls who love to paint their nails. The water-based paint comes in multi-color sets.
- Spy pens with Invisible Ink- One of my top recommendations for children because they get six in one pack, so that they can share them with their siblings and friends. The ink is used to write messages that are invisible. A special light at the back of the pen then reveals them. Huge hit.
- Clip on Reading Light The kids each have one for many years. It clips onto the headboard and has dim, bright, warm, or a combination of both. The cord is 5′ long and plugs into the wall.
- Math Dice — You knew I had to add our favorite math game for the family! It’s easy to play and take anywhere, and it’s engaging for children ages 7 to 98. All of us practice math, from addition and subtraction up to exponents. (Cannot use for younger children).
- Monopoly Deal — If you do not have it, mark the letter with asterisks. This Monopoly game is easy to play and can be taken on the go. The kids enjoy it and find it engaging.
- Epsom Soak for Children- This blend of epsoms salts and essential oil will soften the skin and promote relaxation in children.
- The Mood Ring is back! These adorable animal-shaped options give her an elegant way to express how she feels that day. Okay, maybe they are just for fun and my children think that they’re cool.
- Gratitude Journal – This is a wonderful tool to introduce kids to the concept of identifying feelings, reflecting upon their day, and being thankful. Each page is brief and to the point, but still effective. These are great; it is fun to see what the children were grateful for that day.
- Animal Erasers- I’m not sure why, but these small erasers you can disassemble and then reassemble are all the rage with kids aged 8+. The kids love them because they’re fun and cute, and also because they can erase.
- Wikki Stix- I will never forget the restaurant that gave these away instead of crayons when they were giving out kid’s menus. What a success! The 6″ wax-covered “stix”, which are made of yarn, can be manipulated in all sorts of ways. Let your creativity run wild! The possibilities are endless. From making characters and scenes to forming letters, there is no end.
- Fidget spinner and Pop-it This combo spinner/pop-it is great for kids who fidget or bite their cuticles or nails. It keeps my hands occupied in a fun and colorful way.
