2022: Familiar Homeschooling with a Fresh Feel

It’s possible that we are still in a lull period between our holiday and the start of all our activities, but I think our return to school (whatever it is, and as I grow older and more comfortable, the line between school and everyday life blurs more), has been… dare i say? Pretty wonderful.

The longest sentence in the world? Perhaps.

Last week, I ran into a friend at Target that I don’t often see. While we caught up, our girls explored the toy aisles. She manages a successful business, a baby of 6 months, and homeschools her older children. It’s pretty impressive. What struck me the most was her relaxed attitude to homeschooling and her confidence.

It inspired me to keep growing in confidence with how we run our school. While we’ve returned to math, history, handwriting and other things like that, I have continued to blur the line between school and life.

This week, for example, our language arts are all based on letter writing. In the process of writing our French penpals, we discuss communication style, spelling and sentence structure. The kids love it.
